Urban Development Riga Mezaparks

Riga, LV

The Mezaparks masterplan proposes a high-quality urban district that reactivates public life through a diverse network of streets, squares, and green spaces. It responds to contemporary urban conditions by creating attractive environments that actively invite people to use and inhabit public space.

A clear structure organizes the area through a hierarchy of streets, green spaces, and public nodes. A central boulevard acts as the main spine, complemented by commercial and residential streets, while a peripheral road reduces traffic impact and supports pedestrian-friendly spaces.

A network of green spaces including a water park, pocket parks, gardens, and buffer zones offers recreation, ecological value, and strong connections to the surrounding landscape. Together with a sequence of interconnected public spaces, this creates a diverse and inclusive urban environment used throughout the day.

site plan

Flexible urban blocks and mixed-use typologies ensure variation in scale and function, promoting interaction between public and private realms. Parking is mainly integrated at ground level within blocks, allowing for shared green courtyards above. The result is a compact, adaptable, and lively district that combines density with spatial quality and a strong urban identity.
