A strong commitment to sustainability informs this project: we preserved and reinterpreted existing structures, reused dismantled components, and integrated ecological building materials such as timber throughout. Green roofs and façades, together with the preservation of mature trees, reinforce the connection to the natural environment while reducing the project’s ecological footprint.
Together, these programs form a holistic ecosystem that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, empowers users of all ages, and strengthens the social and educational fabric of Halle-Neustadt. We conceived the design as both adaptive and resilient, fostering exchange and synergy while remaining open to future transformation. The Campushaus is more than an educational facility: it is an educational object in itself, demonstrating how responsible architecture can help shape the future. By embodying the principles of sustainability, innovation, and community, the structure establishes a new landmark for Halle-Neustadt where learning and civic life can flourish together.
The concept of the Campushaus is organized around three core modules: Advisory Services (Campus-Beratung), Workshop Hall (Campus-Werkhalle), and Laboratories (Campus-Labor). Each module represents a distinct focus from guidance and co-working, to practical making and repair, to experimental research and digital creation.
At the center of the project lies synergy, a shared space for interaction where these spheres overlap and mutually reinforce one another. The Advisory Unit provides orientation and connection, the Workshop Hall enables hands-on learning and innovation, and the laboratories open opportunities for scientific exploration.
