Sportpark Ost – New Construction of an Athletics Training Hall and an Indoor Swimming Pool

Regenburg, DE

The project organizes a sports complex into two distinct volumes that integrate sensitively into the urban context while creating a clear and welcoming identity. A central entrance zone connects all functions and acts as the social core of the facility.

Two buildings of different scale and orientation define the site: a single-story athletics hall along the southern edge, providing noise protection and a clear edge, and a second volume positioned more freely within the plot. Together, they form a coherent ensemble that blends naturally into the surroundings.

A transparent central foyer links both buildings, creating an inviting entrance and a clear orientation point. Generous glazing and a landscaped forecourt establish a strong connection between interior and exterior while enhancing accessibility. Functions are clearly organized, with direct access to changing areas and sports facilities. Upper levels accommodate visitor areas and gastronomy, offering visual connections across the complex and towards outdoor spaces.

The design integrates surrounding elements such as green areas, parking, and mobility infrastructure, ensuring flexibility and long-term adaptability. Permeable surfaces and planting strategies enhance environmental performance and user comfort.

Materiality reflects the construction systems: a steel structure for the athletics hall and timber construction for the swimming facility. The result is a well-integrated, functional, and identity-forming sports complex.
